      Ya got the date wrong. Nakba happened in 1948 when multiple Arabic nations declared war on Israel after they announced their independence.

        Setting aside the legitimacy of Israel as a state, why does that mean they get to ethnically cleanse half the Palestinian population?

            That’s the implication, at least. Because “they declared war first so they deserved it” is a popular position among Zionists.

            If that’s not what you meant, then while the war was declared in 1948, the Nakba started in earnest when Israel started beating back the Arab states in 1949.

              If you declare war and lose, you can’t just go “lol oopsie we didn’t really mean it” and expect nothing to happen. When has the loser in any war not experienced repercussions?
