    Hey look, fire.

Now it’s like you’ve been to the festival! Plus imagine yourself lining up for a $25 pulled pork or beef roll.

I’ve been there. I grew up with a few of the Walker mob, the descendants of Kath Walker the poet. Shame about the sand mining company effectively stealing the island.

A bit of a setback for Elder this morning. The welfare person at his school suggested we try next term for three morning sessions a week in class for an hour each time. When I mentioned it to Elder he had a meltdown, couldn’t sleep and now isn’t going to this morning’s meeting at all 😟😔 It seems like a bit of a leap from where he is now, and I only told him what it might look like and I didn’t push, but I guess it’s my fault and I feel like I’ve set him back by even mentioning it. His therapist actually suggested that online virtual schools might be the solution for now because he’s missed the whole first year of highschool up to this point, but the problem with that is Mr P is dyslexic and is not au fait with internet and tech and I have work, so there’d be nobody at home in a position to support him. I’m going to talk to my boss about more flexible hours (the financial planner in my head says, “but we need the money dammit!”), but I’m not optimistic as it is a factory job after all. Virtual Schools Victoria, aside from when the classes are held via video conferencing, are actually very flexible in their scheduling. Going to work now with all this running around in my head and had to put it somewhere 🤯😵‍💫

Torrenting? I am completely and totally unfamiliar with the term. All media I consume is done so through legitimate means. No copyright infringement here.

Might as well watch it at the cinema. Same price or less. It’s more suited for a large screen and sound system anyway.

Edit: 7/10 downsides are: run time is too long and Hemsworth is being Hemsworth. Still a movie for the big screen though and worth it because it’s probably Millers last Mad Max movie.

It’s still in the cinemas so that’s probably why. I’ve noticed this strategy recently where the release to cinema and rental overlap. For a family, $30 would be cheaper than cinema tickets so maybe that’s the target market. Wait a month and it’ll be the normal price.

I have noticed there is a point in time when a product is newish but not brand new, so it might be more available on a grey day. And then after that short window the pickings are slimmer.

I guess when something gets too popular others will find out about it and the shelves get cleared.

We’re still talking about moisturiser and eye drops right? 😉

Edit: Oh yes! And sometimes if things are getting very dry you can search for a ‘slime tutorial’ just to smooth out a rough patch.

Sometimes when life is dull I use a product called cough Snaily Lotion to brighten my eyes, especially when I can’t get New Lube (there seem to be worsening supply chain shortages or price hikes of this brand)

You do have to carefully peruse the products as some may have misleading labels or only be sample sizes. Avoid the third party stockists.

But sometimes if you keep checking for stock you might get what you need

That thread on the melbourne sub about the guy who had the mattresses dumped in his yard really makes me mad that the EPA, Council or Police won’t do anything about it. They’re just letting a scummy business owner get away with it.

Finished writing letters to all the submissions for my writing competition. They all did such a magnificent job, and some of the stories were genuinely really good with interesting themes and ideas and twists that I decided to make them all winners. So they all get signed copies of my book.

I went to one school on Wednesday and announced the winners at assembly. Public speaking is not fun, but I think I did ok. But what really got me was as I was sitting and waiting, one of the kids randomly asks for a high five. Which I obliged. And the girl next to him goes ‘Don’t you know who that is? That’s [my name]. The author.’, which is a all sorts of absurd and crazy and awesome and yeah.

Had a moment today where a modern life tech thing baffled me (online access type thingy), and I got frustrated (eventually solved it). I’m not that old but I’m not young either. It used to be utterly effortless to keep up with the latest life admin requirements, but am finding that occasionally I now feel out of the loop. Is this the tip of the iceberg? I don’t want it to be. I don’t want to age and become useless at new stuff that comes out. I Do. not. like. It.

    Handrail done!

Have to say I am fond of squabbling with the old man about how to go about the DIY stuff. There’s never any love lost but it is hilarious when there’s disagreement.

Sort of a pseudo argument. You can be both right but wrong. You agree to disagree, then disagree on agreeing to finally agree to agree, but deep down you disagree.

    I guess that’s bonding.

Edit: Aand the rail in question. Bad bwoy be 970mm for dayz which is to code solid as. No one be fallin down them steps fank you very much.

Home again after Crazy Day of Hell Week. I am comforting myself with the reflection that it’s a whole year before the next one. I am enjoying a much deserved glass of wine and some godlike snax (fancy as shit sandwiches from the freezer) as I cbf cooking tonight due to exhaustion. Going to tap out fairly early tonight I think. Have a drink of whatever on me folks to celebrate.

Happy eeyoffee to you too Witch. I’m not directly affected by it but there is usually a flood of work to do just before, and for a week or two after (applications that made it in before 1 July and are charged old fees/rules/whatever that then need to be processed). Then rinse and repeat in Nov/Dec…

It’s nice to know you can relax for a while after the peaks though. I’m so glad for the work/life balance you can get in Australia.

Have a thoroughly delightful sleep, perhaps with some warm and fuzzy dreams to go with.
