To give an example of what I’m thinking of…Kingdom of Loathing, Lioden, Flight Rising.

What are some others? I’m sure there’s entire genres of browser-based games I’ve missed.

Universal Paperclips, epic game highly recommended but expect to lose hours of your time.

I sometimes think back to this game. I like that the theme it is going for is not always consistently the same. I don’t think any other idle clicker has actually given me things to think about like this one did.

Was a surprisingly fun way to tank my productivity on Monday.

Honestly, the fact that you mentioned it having a definite end was a huge factor in making me click on that link.

Oh yes. I’ve played quite a few idler-like games, and I hate ones that just go on forever, or for an excessively long time. A good idler, to me, has more mechanics than just spam clicking and incrementing numbers (even though it should incorporate these as core mechanics) and has something that sets it apart from the others, whether that be novel mechanics or some sort of story.

Oh, man. I haven’t heard of Kingdom of Loathing in for ever . I recall grinding the hell out of it back when, and getting all the way to the final stand-off with the big bad and… there was a placeholder. So, I messaged the dev and he all but told me to spend some time in the real world, the final boss wasn’t ready yet, wtf was I doing speedrunning? 🤪😅

Try out the new PC games for kingdom of loathing. There’s a fun western and a noir based one. Same humor and better gameplay

I’ll go for something more simple, but that you still can spend hours on.

Tetris. Jstris if you want a minimalistic version and Tetr.io if you want something more polished.

I also like to play minesweeper, minesweeper.online is the best one I’ve found. I especially like the no-guessing mode which makes the game a lot less frustrating.

    Fallen London.

It’s a predecessor of Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies and Mask of the Rose.

Lots of grinding in the later game, but still highly recommended because of the fantastic text quality. I played it for almost a year.

Minor spoilers but… this is my favorite clicker game because it has an ending.

You can finish the game. And once you finish, you feel accomplished and never have to return (or you can replay if you feel like it I guess)

Oh boy, unfortunately most Flash games aren’t playable on the web yet, else I’d be name-dropping like 200 games.

Everyone has to play Sonny 2 at some point. It’s a genuine masterpiece of turn based RPGs despite being a 14 year old flash game. The atmosphere is amazing. The music is banging. The build variety is immense.

All the blue elephant games like This is the only level and Achievement Unlocked are also classics. Many of them don’t work on Ruffle yet though.

No-one has to die is a story-driven choose your own adventure that’s surprisingly good.

I could go on and on but for a start you should all try these!

slither.io 🐍 Become the longest snek in the multiplayer pit by tripping up other players and feasting on the dead – until the inevitable moment when the same happens to you. Nothing like thinking you’re the very biggest, only to discover you’ve slowly been completely encircled by a much, much bigger snake and no amount of coiling is going to change the outcome.

There’s a browser based version of Oregon Trail I’ve played a fair amount of

the Vex series are pretty good parkour/platformers that even had their own level builder

    red ball

one fun one was the helicopter one where you move blocks into positions that I forget the name of

I forget the exact name of the series, it’s Flight or I Can Fly or something like that. The one with the penguin where you upgrade your glider and try to destroy an iceberg

A pretty good one with a rocket you upgrade and eventually get to Mars that’s fun

Sorry I forget the names, it’s been a while. Most probably aren’t even playable anymore unfortunately
