There was a time when all this would have been hush hush and we’d find out about it in the following day or so newspaper. Now we and they get a heads up before the event. Are they selling tickets?
There’s a lot of value to telegraphing this particular set of operations as it gives Iran time to move any high-value targets and prevent out-of-control escalation.
When was that time? Talk to anyone alive during the Flatlands thingy and they will tell you how the news was showing nightly where the fleet was. I remember protesting the Iraq war and had like 6 months of heads up.
Just waiting for China to invade Taiwan for WW3 to really kick off
That, or Russia going for some combination of Finland, the Baltic states, and the Suwalki Gap
And/or
there’s a big NATO exercise (90,000 troops) starting up, that will run through May… we may not wait for them to start it…
Hex codes of many B-1Bs noted transiting to the middle east.
Things are about to get very proportional
Hearing this phrase repeated ad nauseam these past fee days is pretty fucked up.
Because we all know many innocent people are going to get caught up in such an unproportional attack.
Its like you’re all salivating for death.
to reduce the risk of inadvertently hitting civilians
Something the US is as famous as Israel for.
assholes should stop fucking around if they don’t want to find out
I understand the need for a retaliatory strike.
I don’t understand the need to meme about what is going to be a large civilian death toll or ‘collateral damage’ as you rephrased it as.
Be better.
it sounds like you already know how many civilians will be killed… do you have them lined up in front of your military radar installations?
No, Im just aware of US military history.
Like how you reduced the risks in Iraq and Afghanistan, or Vietnam or Cambodia, etc.
i’m sure you’re a dedicated internet forum expert on that and lots of US foreign policy
First I’ve ever heard that term - what do you mean by hex code? Is this a logistics thing?
The article suggests Iran is losing its influence on its proxies. That’s an interesting take, but I wouldn’t hold my breath that it would help simmer things down.
If anything it might make it worse.
Wishful thinking.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The US has approved plans for a series of strikes on Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq, officials have told the BBC’s US partner CBS News.
That group, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, is believed to contain multiple militias that have been armed, funded and trained by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards force.
President Joe Biden has been under mounting pressure from Republican lawmakers, including some of Washington’s most hawkish voices on Iran, to strike targets on Iranian soil.
But while the US has repeatedly pledged to respond to the drone attack, Mr Biden and other defence officials have said Washington is not seeking a wider war with Iran or an escalation of tensions in the region.
Citing unnamed sources, Reuters on Thursday reported that Iran had withdrawn senior officials from Syria following a series of Israeli airstrikes in a bid to avoid being directly drawn into a wider conflict in the region.
US officials told CNN this week that there were signs that the Iranian government was becoming increasingly concerned about the actions of its proxy groups in the region, who have launched over 160 attacks on US forces since October.
The original article contains 618 words, the summary contains 190 words. Saved 69%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Genocide Joe really wants to get WW3 going before he hits the grave.
