An analysis of shell fragments shows Israel used U.S.-made white phosphorus munitions in an attack that a rights group says should be investigated as a war crime.
Reading this i see the issues of the notice bit really being one and the unnecessary victims it created. Assuming more time was given and more people would have been evacuated. There would still be some left as hamas kept them as hostages and prevented escape of their own people. How should have Israel approached that dilemma?
To not have let it get to this point. Israel took a pressure cooker, filled it with nails and water, sealed it and put it on a stove. Every step they took to oppress Palestine, encircle them, blockade supplies, furthering tensions until Hamas had the most convincing recruitment speech any insurgency can. “Die fighting or die cowering.”
The IDF created Hamas directly through their actions and if you take a page from the United States, you don’t beat an insurgency with more bombs. We lost to ISIS not because we didn’t have the guns, troops, or munitions but because when you kill militant civilians you create more that want to take up arms. So it’s genocide or retreat.
Israel should willingly give up swaths of land it’s been taking by force so Palestinians can freely leave, trade, and exist without ‘permission’ from Israel. Give them hope and they might not throw their lives away for jihad.
Reading your sketch of Future feels comforting as it would man a future in peace for close to no real sacrifice. Imho that future is made impossible by all surrounding Muslim countries so having elimination of all Jews on their to do list and close to none of them is willing to compromise on that.
For the Jews it’s no game, no cheap land grab like in Ukraine, jews fight because losing means being annihilated. (1949, 1956, 1967,…)
They forfeit their right to exist when they began an unmitigated genocide of unarmed civilians. The lies and deception to get there are only to obfuscate that fact. They are looking to annihilate Palestine.
I don’t agree, genocide is a drastic overstatement and not fair to actual genocides. Are civilians displaced? Yes. Are civilians casualties higher than they should? Yes. None if that is anywhere close to the scale of intent of a genocide.
And considering the history of their neighbours aggression i‘d argue it’s the other way around. If anyone ever really tried to eliminate the other, the jews can claim the victimhood here for sure.
With how many civilians they’ve killed, it’s unreasonable to call it anything but a genocide. If there were less casualties it would be open to interpretation but when literal genocide researchers, the people who would know the most on this topic, are calling this a genocide… yeah I think it’s tough to argue against.
