Definitely not a good look…
Not at all.
Thanks for the info - I guess so too. Makes you wonder whether the mission is the primary goal. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Would be interesting to see if they remove informational content like infographics too. [clears throat] https://mastodon.social/@buyeuropean/114096858372085737
I appreciate the support!
Oh I think you mean the other website. Our website never used Google Analytics.
Oh, you’re free to use whatever resource you like. If you want my biased opinion: the difference is like night and day. I find it slower and less structured, so I definitely prefer our approach. But I’m sure some people might prefer the other one - it just depends on what you’re looking for. I also read that they use(d) Google Analytics which is weird to me. But I mean we use .net and not .eu (as catchy .eu domain names were already registered) - so I guess nobody’s perfect.
Another difference: The website you mentioned can be discussed here. This is a one-way street as I learned as my post about our website on the related subreddit got deleted and another user’s post about our website got deleted too.
The biggest issue we face right now is filling the database but people are already submitting lots of suggestions using the form on the website which helps a lot :)
Great additions, thank you! I’m very grateful for people helping to fill the database by submitting suggestions either here or through the “Submit suggestion” form on the website.
I hadn’t heard about it. Once we add more business software alternatives to the database, I will make sure to keep it in mind. Thanks for the suggestion! :)
This is what we use for our database as well (self-hosted). :)
Fantastic company - been using them for years. We also host the website with Hetzner.
Due to negative feedback in version 1.0 I removed it from the infographic. You can still find it in the database itself.
I’m sure at some point another user (with a more established account) will try to post it there and we will see what happens.
No reason given. Might have been due to the fact the account was new? Not sure. I even messaged the mod team beforehand to ask for permission but did not receive a reply, so just posted and after around 20 upvotes the post was gone.
My post about our database website was deleted too. Guess it’s a more closed community focusing on their database.
Fantastic idea! Technically we could add this quickly. Unfortunately I’m pretty sure we will not be able to editorially work on that within the next couple of weeks where we focus on expanding the database itself but we should definitely consider this! Maybe we can get some people on board who help with the research for this.
Just added the “Submit suggestion” feature. Thanks again for your feedback!
We are still evaluating how to assess that as the company Serif is still located in the UK AFAIK which means that they work under European legislation. If they should start to shift everything to Australia that would change but right now we check for the company address and not for the owners of that company - definitely up for discussion what’s better.
I just think it’s hard to address that as for example publicly traded companies are usually owned by several investors and might even be hold in majority by foreign investors - but the company itself has to follow regional laws which is what we focus on.
Oh! See, a lot to learn. I’m sure I will figure it out at some point. 🫠
Thanks for the feedback. It is not supposed to be a complete list. It’s a start. You can find more alternatives in our database: https://buy-european.net/
