I am a trans woman that has been more or less forced to live under a rock for the last 20ish years. I’ve had literal rocks thrown at me for existing. I’ve been the victim of just about every kind of abuse that a transphobe can do in that time. I’ve been avoiding most of society for a long time because of this; barely eking out the life that I want for myself, even while self employed with good contracts. It’s going to soon be at the point where I can’t even show up in person to buy food here. I’m in a smallish town, and people know me. Someone had the audacity to try to build an extremely permanent Trump billboard on my property (complete with concrete bollards and rebar).

I guess that what I am trying to say is that while I’ve been through a lot, it’s going to be so much worse. My name and identity are actively being erased, and it is all being forced to be legal where it was formerly not. I know that I am preaching to the choir here, but please - I implore you - do whatever you can. This weekend I am going to be protesting by laying in front of police vehicles, preventing them from moving.

It is time that we, as a whole, begin to truthfully care.
