    That’s actually a misnomer but an understandable one. Assassinations can be carried out for a variety of reasons. Religious reasons are an example. But yeah, Political stuff usually far outweighs the other potential reasons.

      That’s still political, it’s just religious politics. Otherwise if it was a sacrifice or something like that it would have another word, like sacrifice.

        You could argue that, yeah, but the definitions of Assassination are still pretty clear. It’s not specific to political motives. Merriam-Websters dictionary defines it as:

        murder by sudden or secret attack often for political reasons

        And the Oxford English Dictionary has it as:

        the murder of an important or famous person, especially for political reasons

        Most other definitions follow the same vein. Thats what I meant by it being an understandable misunderstanding. Both definitions use political reasons in it but both also say it’s just most commonly used for.
