murder by sudden or secret attack often for political reasons
And the Oxford English Dictionary has it as:
the murder of an important or famous person, especially for political reasons
Most other definitions follow the same vein. Thats what I meant by it being an understandable misunderstanding. Both definitions use political reasons in it but both also say it’s just most commonly used for.
