During my orientation, a random manager came up to me and a few others and said, “My husband is black.” Earlier, I shared that my wife is pale white, and I am brown.
I was with HR and witnessed their shocked. While my brain did go, “Why did she say this?”, I transitioned into ‘be a homie’ and shouted, “Hell yeah mixed babies!”
Which isn’t better. Record skip moment. We both smiled uncomfortably. We both left. Nobody has brought it up since.
