Personally, apparently 71% of my gaming time was spent on FFXIV. Although in my defense, most games I’ve played this year were on GOG or old free stuff from Epic I finally got around to.
My chart shows an emphasis on zombies and typing. I don’t know how to interpret that other than we need a new Typing of the Dead.
Looking at my review weirdly gave me a more positive perspective on how I see my life. It helped me realize I’m kind of blessed with the work-life balance I have that I’m still able to play so many games into adulthood.
Also it’s neat to see what I played early in the year. Things I could’ve sworn I’d played a couple years ago. A little reminder that time isn’t moving as quickly as it sometimes feels.
It’s interesting that across the board, games released this year barely account for 9% of what people typically played.
A lot of people stick with ongoing/live service games as their main mode of play. FFXIV is the majority of my playtime, with Baldur’s Gate 3 really being the only “this year” game I’ve played to a great extent.
Also plugging the Patient Gamers crowd that I find myself aligning more strongly with over time. Waiting to pick up games when they go on sale is not only easier on the wallet, but it is also a better experience overall with way too many developers these days releasing products on a “ship now, fix later” mindset.
Remember that a huge number of Steam accounts exclusively play Free to Play games and spend no money at all. 6 of the Top 10 Most Played on Steam right now are F2P games and only one is from this year.
I’m in that 9%. I played 40 different games. 21 of them were released in 2023. 83% of my total playtime was in games released this year. Most of that time was specifically in BG3.
I’ve got a 25 year backlog of games to play, no need to play any new ones for a while!
It’s funny seeing how much of my gaming is the 30 minutes to an hour detoxing after work before going to other tasks. I rarely play a game for hours on end anymore.
Shout out to Hades and Inscryption (Kaycee’s mod) for being less than an hour to beat a run. Perfect for a detox.
Only 8 games played this year, 3 new games bought. Grown up kinda sucks.
Ooh, never knew this existed but jeez now I feel old…
Black Mesa and Age of Empires 2 made up 75% of my gaming this year!
“The classics never die” was the message it gave me as well.
Me too. It’s such a nice way of saying “Awww, you’re old”
I did a pretty good job at keeping myself from buying games this year, but I also barely played 😔
It’s nice i can see where my Pc broke and where i got my steamdeck also say i played 42 new game this year but i remember only 4 so i might want to get my memory check
I’ll be the guy who enjoyed this.
Beautiful hourglass pattern as I changed over from one time sink to another. Kinda neat.
56% of my gaming was just one game: Streets of rogue.
But you’re right there’s plenty of games I bought that I didn’t play very much. I hate it when I realize I don’t actually want a game but it’s outside of the window to return it for a refund 🙃
Yep, 77% spent on FFXIV. Fun times
Pretty happy with my results here. More played than purchased, and lots of time with the ones I did.
I mostly played free to play games and only got games that reviewed well. I learned my lesson during the pandemic releases. I can’t get into old games.
