Giuliani was a no-show at a federal court hearing in the duo’s defamation lawsuit, prompting a lashing for his attorney by U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell, who had ordered Giuliani to be present.

He was ordered to be in court by the judge. Why isn’t there a warrant out for his arrest? [That was rhetorical, we know why.]

Probably because this is a civil case and not a criminal one. Not showing up negatively affects his case more than anything. This isn’t the same as defying a subpoena, or not being present as a criminal defendant, both of which would absolutely land this broke-ass motherfucker in jail

If I’m not mistaken, refusing to defend yourself in a civil case results in the judge automatically assuming everything the plaintiff is accusing you of is true. I wonder if that applies when your lawyers are present but you aren’t when ordered?

They’ve already decided against him, the trial next week is for damages.

Just like the Trump company trial in New York right now and the E. Jean Carrol defamation trial firing up in January.

“We’ve already determined you’re liable, now it’s all about damages…”

Not a criminal trial. Civil trial. They already found him liable and he’s out of money, it’s all performative at this point.

I’d like to see him with no money. I am pretty sure his ‘no money’ is not the same as my ‘no money’

Wandering around an apartment that has had all the furniture pulled out of it, wearing only a wife beater under-shirt, boxer shorts, black socks and garters. Muttering to himself about how he was “this close!” and “fucking Borat!”

Giuliani was six blocks over. Sitting at a table in John Larroquettes, Night Court cafe and donut shopee, being served by a barista who looks suspiciously like Richard Moll and waiting for the judge to show up.

Criminal court, same in the U.S. Civil court, not so much. They already lost the case, the lawyers are just trying to figure out how much money is owed. This would be like a baseball going through someones window. Not a Criminal offense more than likely, just a civilian/citizen/neighbor demanding you pay damages. Judge decided he does need to pay for the window. Now lawyers still arguing over how much the window costs.
