Continue ongoing work of turning away from explorative systems in society such as supporting syndicalist/collectivist business structures instead of capitalism

Thank you; I’ve felt like I’ve been hallucinating the past week with Lemmy doubling down on capitalism – but in our backyard – and seemingly neglecting that Europe had its own long, and currently ongoing, history of colonialism and exploration.

The reach for shoring up existing systems – but just, now, in European control – rather than establishing better ones has been massively disappointing.

It varied, really. A lot of the Disney films we owned were in the plastic cases (probably other ones, as well; just don’t remember anymore, at this point) and others had the cardboard sleeves.

I don’t remember it leaning one way or the other, particularly.

God, I’m so glad Jon Oliver finally joined the Fediverse.

Not the 6T but I owned the 6 for years until AT&T decided to forcibly disable any of their SIM cards in one when they sunsetted their 3G network (still very pissed about this…).

I know the spec.s were similar, while being improved on the 6T, so not 1-to-1 but I can say the 6 was a really solid device.

When I ran Mobian on it, the extra spec.s (over, say, the PinePhone) really made things pretty nice; I’d expect you’d have a nice time with it and I think it’s a solid device.

It’s astounding how many Linux users engage with tools founded in left-leaning ideas while insisting politics aren’t brought into their fav.s.

I hate the conclusions Libertarian Linux users draw but at least they see the parallels.

I doubt I’d have the skill to write it but I’ve long thought something like Etsy could be interesting.

I think the federated nature of the Fediverse could do well to stave off the worst of any spamming.

But the thing I notice the most with independent sellers is that the bulk of what they’re doing is networking, generally amongst friends. Which, really, is the ideal environment for goods and services to be sold.

But, since capitalism always demands the line goes up, places like Etsy inevitably abandon them and making their sites encouraging of that kind of interpersonal connecting in favor of entities which can mass churn products out.

Setting up shops in the fediverse would allow people to easily host their own shops (and not be reliant on the infrastructure of, say, Etsy) and boosting would organically encourage a web of trust since their friend is essentially saying, “I know this person; they’re good.” You could even have the code autotag listings with a hashtag so people can filter out those types of posts, if they don’t want to.

Not sure how you’d handle federation when you first spin up an instance but, still, more alternatives are better than less, I expect.

I dunno; I think it’d be interesting.
