From another autistic person, it really varies from person to person. I despise staring intensely at strangers, but when it comes to my partner, I adore it. It probably has to do more with the level of trust than inherently not being able to look at someone in the eyes, but it might just be a me thing.
Dude, most of the comments are trying to be supportive of this guy. I’m pretty sure we’ve all felt broken when we were diagnosed. I thought I was unlovable and would never have friendships or a partner, and eight years later I just celebrated my five year anniversary. Shit gets better, but not if you stay on the cycle of thinking you’re just broken and it will always stay like that. Whether you want to believe that or not, that’s your prerogative.
Personally I find this form of thinking far more dangerous: I come from a country in which being “mentally disabled” would literally mean me being unable to function in polite society, and being a “retard” is something pretty common, even with adults. The fact I was undiagnosed autistic until I left saved me. Sure you don’t function like everyone else, and yeah, it’s hard - trust me -, but to say you’re broken is basically undermining everyone else that has the same condition as you.
I guess it’s cus everyone has a different standard of what pollution is for them. For me, the sound of windchimes calm me, I find industrial air vents relaxing, and church bells oddly peaceful, but can’t stand someone even driving near me, dogs barking, babies crying, or fluorecent lights flickering. But you know, people need to drive, dogs and babies need to talk, and the world goes on.
I know this is kinda off base, but the Temple of Satan has churches, and they’re absolutely pro gay and pro trans. They’re the anti mainstream religion, basically.
I literally eat oatmeal raw and dry like a godamm horse eating out of a trough. Yes I have a problem.
I’m in college RN, taking three classes, and literally just last week i was working so much to keep up with all the classes homework I started from 9am to 10pm with no breaks (online) with only the 5 min eating break every so often. If it was a 9-5 I would have been done and have time to spare for other crap. Fuck this idolizing the past “9-5 is evil” bullshit.
Sharing this: don’t know why this works, but my dad found refreshing the cache in UBlock makes this thing finally shut the fuck up.
Don’t ask how, but my dad found out that at least with Ublock, cleaning the cache in the addon makes it bypass the stupid pop-up.
Might just be cus we’re both neurodivergent, but we have a lot of non verbal cues, though he’s nowhere near as showy as I am.
Whenever I end up overstimmed and go non-verbal, I tug at his shirt gently, or paw at him. From then it’s simple ASL. For him, he genuinely just has simple phrasing or wordings that are kind of “key words” between us. The both of us are high functioning in our 20s, this is just kind of how it ended up and we’re both super not subtle about it. It’s great.
Edit: we literally do pigeon noises at each other at random. One of us says coo and the other goes roo. It’s literally just a “thing” between us and it started because of us watching pigeons together and it stuck.
Nope. If you look it up there’s serveral instances of rock pigeons making “nests” like this, it’s legitimately just a thing they do specifically.
I just download the songs and play them off of Musicolet.
Bone gnawing for me. And I genuinely mean that, I find gnawing on a piece of bone insanely calming for me, but it makes literally everyone I talk to insanely uncomfortable. I love gnawing on bbq ribs, chicken wing bones, pork chop bones, T bones. I love bone marrow and trying to dig for it. Family says it’s bad etiquette, though my partner doesn’t mind.
Chuggaconroy and TRG have pretty much kept up their quality over 20 years at this point, specially Chuggaconroy. He specializes in Nintendo games, and he’s known for doing borderline encyclopedic let’s plays, such as 100% Xenoblade chronicles. TRG meanwhile is just three guys hanging out and having fun. Just a fair warning, Chugga in particular has very high energy. Not obnoxious, like Mr.Beast or other high content YouTubers, but he’s known for having extremely high energy moments. His newer content is much more mellow.
You can absolutely have the opposite example. I’m subbed to a bunch of niche Lemmy instances, and no one has posted anything in there for literally months.
I mean shit dude, sometimes these people literally have no one else to go to. There was a super scary example of it on a Chuggaconroy video where a comment was like “thanks for the memories and for making my days a bit better” and everyone figured it out, and like every single comment - including the creator - told him not to and they succeeded. But still it was fucking insane to see on a YouTube video.
Probably missing the point, but RN I’m stuck with a horrid ass flu that makes my entire muscles sore, couldn’t sleep yesterday because of cold sweats, and just all in all feel like garbage, and you could not imagine the relief I felt when tested it turned out to not be COVID (And yes, I am up to date with the COVID vaccines).
Serious answer: eggs have a protective barrier around them, so sperm actually need to group in bunches to break the barrier, and a single lone sperm is incredibly unlikely to do well on its own. As such the ones that have a higher chance of success are actually the ones that are last and get in after the barrier’s been weakened.
I didn’t use to either shower or bathe but it was a mental health issue: I went though both depression, which didn’t help, and I didnt have good showering habits due to being kinda aquaphobic. If water hit my face at all I would think I’d die (pretty dumb I know). Nowadays I bathe pretty much daily. Having a detachable showerhead helps a lot so I don’t have to deal with water on my face.
