  • I give my man compliments all the time. He calls me silly and pretends he doesn’t care, but I think it is working. Have been running a semi-non stop compliment campaign since Covid where I tell him how beautiful his hair is in the hopes he will cut it less. It’s been a good while since he last came home looking like a sheep after shearing. Summer is approaching, though, so I’m bracing myself for him getting the idea to visit the barber and have him mutilate those beautiful locks of his. It should be crime, honestly.

  • Adam was made from clay. Eve was made from Adam’s rib and had the audacity to eat some goofy apple. As punishment, all women were doomed to be in horrible pain during childbirth and since they were made from Adam’s rib, they are also a man’s property. Religion is so kind to us, lol.

That’s one of the many reasons why I am a bigger fan of science. It makes more sense and is impartial. If anything, the laws of nature is brutally indifferent to who or what you are and will fuck you over or bless you at random. I can deal with that.

  • I loved casefile and used to listen to it all the time. Episode 54 haunts me to this day. I still cannot listen to Elton John’s “Daniel” because of that case. I was out walking in public and when it got to Daniel’s funeral, that little detail, that they played that song, absolutely wrecked me. I was ugly crying in public.

Also liked Dan Carlin! He’s so calming to listen to. Should probably start listening to his podcast again sometime.

  • Female specimen bleeds once a month and is plagued by hormonal fuckery that makes life unbearable at times. Emotional regulation: hahaha fuck you. Physical discomfort: yessir. Terrible pain from cramps, hormonal migraines and other such hormone related pains: amazing. Acne, oily hair, skin, smelly sweat and bloatedness when hormones go brrrrr: cool.

Vag-hole too small to squeeze out baby head and will often rip open. If unlucky, female specimen will bleed to death after giving birth, leaving baby without protection and food source. Female specimen only has a very small window to procreate and is most fertile when her brain is the least developed post puberty. When her brain is finally catching up in maturity, her body is starting to regress in fertility and getting pregnant is now a risk to her and the baby. Is somehow blamed and often punished for her biology literally fucking with her from the age of 9 to menopause.

I would fucking love if my biggest problem was that my reproductive organs were dangling between my legs and got a bit hot once in awhile.

  • Shower gel: Original Source. We love the mint one in our household and have loved it for at least ten years. The brand is British and vegan too, for those who care. They have a lot of fun and wacky variants, but the mint one is still the best one.

For hair I will probably return to Elvital (L’Oreal Paris) when my last Herbal Essence bottle is empty.

As for face creams and other stuff like that, I use Neutral which is a Danish brand that is known for their neutral products that are suitable for people with allergies or people like me who would like to put less toxic shit on our skin.

Had to look it up as I don’t really play video games. Based purely on the designs I saw of Odin and Thor, I’m not particularly thrilled about that one either. Maybe the games themselves are super faithful to Norse mythology and the designs are just an oopsie. I dunno.

Generally it seems like Americans interpret Norse Mythology in a very materialistic way. It is always to polished and over the top when they depict Norse gods. To most Scandinavians, Norse mythology and folklore too, is completely and utterly intertwined with nature. It is gnarled, ugly and brutal as well as delicate, beautiful and poetic.

Odin can be a bombastic god adorned in armor and riding Sleipner into battle, sure. But most depictions of him in Scandinavia is the unassuming cloaked stranger with the staff and the hat or hood.

And that is kind of how most gods and jotuns are for us. Everyday people with everyday problems that are just a bit more extraordinary than ours. It is easier to relate to and it is more authentic. I haven’t yet seen an American depiction of Norse mythology or culture that isn’t just complete and utter nonsense that only cares about looking cool. I think one of the best depictions of Norse mythology, culture and folklore are the ones done by Erik Hjorth Nielsen. That man gets it. Probably because it is his culture too.

As a Dane, I have had many a non Scandinavian try and educate me on Norse mythology too and their knowledge is based on those godawful Marvel movies and comics.

They usually get very confused when they learn that Thor and Loki aren’t brothers. That Loki and Odin are the ones who are blood brothers. It’s like it doesn’t compute in their heads. And for those who don’t know, blood brothers in old scandinavian culture was two men slicing their hands and clasping their wounded hands together to mix blood. That was a way to forge an alliance and an oath of loyalty as strong as if you came out of the same womb. I’m pretty sure it was still practiced in more recent times as well. Probably died out when AIDS became the big scary thing, but I dunno. I just have vague memories of older people telling me about doing the blood oath when they were young.

In any case, it is just super fun to have your culture reduced to a cringe American comic book where Thor looks nothing like Thor and Valhalla looks like ass and literally none of the gods look right according to their descriptions in mythology. Couldn’t even give Sif her golden hair, could they?

I have talked to some Americans who claims that sperm + egg = baby and I want to place an egg in front of them and ask them what it is and if they say anything other than a chicken, I will laugh.

Also, thank you for the distinction. Kind of insane to call embryos babies. It is shit like this that makes me feel like my brain is shrinking when I talk to some people online.
