Exactly. This. We’re not trying to get popular.
Lemmy has a good group. It will ebb and flow. People are finding their groups online. If it’s not here. That’s fine. If you enjoy lemmy. Stay! But we don’t need to grow lol

We need to shut down this senior center. I’m tired of this. Let’s get some fresh ideas in this place.
There are bread lines where I live. The homeless/houseless population is absurd.
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong because I have trouble understanding this. But someone told me the other day that I’m the height of the Great Depression,1931(?), that the average American was making 88k in todays dollar.
Today the average American is making 33k. Is this true?
If this is true that would totally explain the amount of mental illness on top of climate change concerns. If it is true I don’t know why more people wouldn’t be talking about it
Sounding off. 15 years. Deleted that thing. Haven’t looked back besides checking an occasional subreddit that decided to stay there.
This is the weirdest old people’s home.
Great how about he donate a few hundred billion to help us research it?
I
Honestly I’m enjoying the people that did leave and lemmy scratches the Reddit itch. I don’t need more than the exodus that happened
This must be a burning man vehicle.
Yeah so true! Go to some festivals or a nude beach!
Saudi’s have been gobbling up water down there too. https://apnews.com/article/water-foreign-farms-arizona-drought-saudi-arabia-2fe3ea1fad43b14ca118cf85196f3e9a
So…I hope they do something. But…Capitallissssmmm
Right? I’m on this train. Hell if you want to be naked do it. But hell…being naked is uncomfortable and impractical.
While it’s true that the majority of people may not be tech-savvy or open to learning complex new software, it doesn’t necessarily mean that normal people don’t adopt new software at all. Throughout history, we have seen numerous instances where new technologies and software have gained widespread adoption, even among non-technical users.
Consider the rise of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. These platforms started with relatively niche user bases but eventually expanded to reach millions, if not billions, of users worldwide. The key to their success was not only their technical features but also their ability to simplify the user experience and cater to the needs and preferences of a wide range of individuals.
In the case of home instances, federation, and defederation, while they may sound complicated and unfamiliar to the average user, it’s important to note that successful software platforms often find ways to abstract complex concepts and provide intuitive interfaces. If the process is streamlined and the thinking required is minimized, it becomes more accessible to a larger audience.
Moreover, it’s worth considering that as technology becomes more pervasive in our daily lives, people are becoming increasingly comfortable with exploring new software and digital experiences. The rise of smartphones, mobile apps, and the increasing reliance on digital tools for various tasks indicate a growing acceptance and adoption of new software by the general population.
Therefore, while it’s true that there may be initial barriers and confusion, it is possible for new software like Lemmy to compete with established platforms like Reddit by focusing on simplifying the user experience, addressing the needs of non-technical users, and gradually building a community base that fosters familiarity and engagement. It’s important not to underestimate the potential for normal people to embrace new software when it offers compelling features and a user-friendly interface.
Damn take care of yourself OP.
Also… there are plenty of less crazy fish in the sea. Let this one swim.
I looked into this too and it’s pretty resource heavy. I actually had a really good conversation with Chatgpt about making a separate instance of itself locallly. It’s worth talking to it about that and some of the price options
Be the change you wish to see in the world…
Because you’re right and I don’t know how I would clean it up lol
It is refreshing. I’ll channel some toxicity to level the playing field
Are you asking if new technology is used by nerds? Lmao.
Who were you expecting to be here?
Yeah seriously. Lemmy is 1/2 people that got booted from Reddit and miss it like an ex lol
I pay for LastPass and would never go back. I know there are other options that people will point out but I’m too invested now haha.
I highly recommend getting LastPass or something similar. It was much easier to make the transition away from google products
