I’m one of the users that was pretty skeptical of federating, I really genuinely dont like meta discussion at all and love my community’s weird culture; but being able to choose between Local and All has been pretty reasonable to me. IF anyone from hexbear is commenting on your instance its because they want to. Whether or not theyre totally conscious of it and trying to actually post good is another issue, but I doubt we really have a higher percentage of shitposters than any other instance does, theres just more of us in general.

This is why we say that people trying to depoliticize things is an ideology, it is a politics of the status quo. It allows people to be ignorant of the status quo, of who it harms and what it demands. Most status quo is also very conservative, and broadly benefits them the most of all the brands of politics.
