I feel half annoyed with Google, but half of me wonders if this could possibly even be a real update or if it’s time for a scan and factory reset.
Seems your carrier might be pushing those on your device
Find and disable the Verizon App Manager.
Aha! I’m going to disable this asap. Thank you.
Bless you x9000. Last 3 updates kept pushing that garbage.
If you’re with T-Mobile; another major pain in the ass is known as
AppSelector
. Check inSettings > Apps
for this pest andDisable
it!!~I’m on TMo and don’t have that - but I also brought my own device. Would it be hiding under another name or am i good?
It shouldn’t be to my knowledge. What model is your device?
pixel 7
Pixels do not have these problems; as they’re 100% pure, unmitigated GOOGLE Android.
You won’t have this problem with Pixels; Google explicitly forbids it.
What device are you using?
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
Then that’s not on Google, that’s on Samsung. Wouldn’t be the first time they pull crap like this
Actually, it looks like it was Verizon in this case. For what they charge, you’d think they wouldn’t stoop so low.
I recommend buying a Motorola (Edge) phone, they don’t have any crap on their phones and I they have great battery time.
I’ll keep it in mind for my next phone, thanks!
Or get a Pixel and install GrapheneOS on it! It’s nice to feel in control of my phone. Almost every app on my device is open source (with the exception of Instagram and FB Messenger, sadly my social circles use these exclusively to communicate) and for those closed-sourced, sketchy apps, I can set which permissions they have super easily.
Yeah, that would be nice!
