I just saw my first Hexbear post, and I am not used to seeing this level of stupid. I don’t want to see any more of it.

sarcasm
edit: if you dig deeper (and I don’t blame you if you don’t), you’ll find a lot more than just annoying posts over there. It’s full of right wing propaganda
I am aware of that from casual statements in lemmy.world. Today is the first time I actually saw it for myself though, and jesus…
Yeah, I hear ya. It would probably be funny if it wasn’t so frickin batshit crazy.
The most vehement of the left is… right wing?
If you think these copypasta pro-Russia trolls are actually “leftist,” boy do I have a bridge to sell you.
I’m sorry that you fell for whatever it was you saw. It’s okay to be gullible.
On the other hand, it’s really easy to simply ignore posts. I promise, you don’t have to read every single one that shows up on All
I’m still not sure I understand the benefits of
- hating an entire country over hating one of its citizens
- hating an entire instance instead of hating one of its communities (hating a community or a specific user does make complete sense tho)
Those two aren’t in any way comparable. You don’t choose what country you’re born in. You DO choose which instance to be a part of.
Sorry. I meant that the community I want to follow didn’t choose the idiot vandals who joined their instance and which caused my home instance to shut off access to their entire instance.
An instance-wide block of an entire other instance feels like cutting out your eyes instead of closing the curtains to me.
Holy idiotically false syllogism, Batman.
if you are using sync, you can filter instances.
other apps do this too, like connect i think.
You can only block individual communities right now, but apps like Sync let you filter instances from your All view.
You can’t yet.
https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/3869
Once thats pulled, and the master branch is updated, you should be able to.
Here’s hoping that’ll be quick.
use block instance script on violentmonkey.
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/469297-block-lemmy-instances
Can I use Greasemonkey for this? I’ve used Greasemonkey before, though rarely.
yea yea same. add each instance like this: “instance 1”, “instance 2”, etc… in line 17
Join an instance that’s defederated is your only real option. Even if you could block the instance you can’t block all the users, which is why most of the replies to your post are from hexbear users trolling.
Not sure why your admin decided to not defed despite the toxicity and hate they showed to him.
I mean, I am in Lemmy.world. Problem is it’s always down.
It seems to have improved significantly in the last few weeks, I haven’t had any issues on my world account. Seems a bit faster lately as well
For the last two days— especially last night— it has been down for many hours each day. Last night it was so bad that I started staying in the lemm.ee instance, when before I only ever posted in here once.
I believe it, it’s been pretty rocky in general. Hope everything gets resolved soon
I just blocked their subs and some of their users.
some clients i think have that functionality (not rightly sure which), and i know it is a planned feature for lemmy as a whole eventually, but honestly if you saw one bad post, just downvote and move on, leave a comment on it expressing your distaste, or just block the user, or the community, right? i feel like wanting to block a whole huge instance over one stupid post seems a bit over the top tbh.
Not ideal, but some mobile apps have the feature to filter content (including comments) by instance. Connect for Lemmy has this feature.
The best app imo
It’s called scrolling and/or blocking communities.
The fact that you saw a post and immediately said “I can’t deal with this! Get it out of my sight!” but didn’t bother to see the solution literally at your finger tips…
Just ignore posts you don’t like. If you can’t deal with posts you don’t like being in your feed, stop browsing All. There are so many solutions to this that don’t involve completely dog piling onto people (and other communities) that did not (and don’t) post the content you didn’t like.

How does their behavior on their own instance affect everyone? Please enlighten me.

Funny.
They are posting content on their own instance, in their own communities. Yes, it is federated. As is everything else you will see on All.
You think that shit posts and leftist memes are dangerous to everyone?
