Sony’s controversial PlayStation Network requirement for its PC games is once again in the spotlight after the company delisted the original Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam and the Epic Games Store and added the PSN requirement to the upcoming single-player remaster.
I think they are actually asking, “if this is such an obviously stupid move, and there aren’t enough stupid people to buy the game, why would Sony even bother working on this?”.
Either the costs were incredibly low, or they figure they will profit off the data they collect enough to make up for it, in my opinion.
I don’t think so, a lot of people just want “the best” and don’t need to actually have quantifiable reasons why it’s “the best.” Spending $50 or whatever to get “the best” isn’t really a concern when you’re mostly looking to max out your $10k gaming PC.
Whether there are enough of those to cover the development costs here is another question, but since they eliminated the alternative, even those who are “smart enough” don’t have a realistic alternative.
I guess for those that hadnt already bought the game yet, since the addon is only 10$. I don’t know, id be interested to see if they go positive or negative on this game specifically.
Because if they remaster it, they can also remaster the price.
Which is probably why they’ve pulled all the old versions.

Possible, surely. Gamers are pretty well informed these days though. And the original game looks beautiful already.
The people who would care about the graphical difference would know enough to know how stupid this is right?
