Security company ADT disclosed in an SEC filing that hackers obtained “some limited customer information, including email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses.” TechCrunch reports that ADT’s disclosure follows a seller on a cybercrime forum claiming last week that they had obtained more than 30,000 stolen ADT customer records.
Fun fact: I’m an electronic security tech. A widely known joke in the industry is that ADT stands for “Another Dumb Technician”. They like their lick-and-stick wireless sensor bullshit and can’t wire up and program a real panel.
"We’re sorry (we got caught). Here’s a free identity production scam to make you feel safe again.
I begin to wonder if identity theft protection was the next big thing to get into after self storage. A bit of investment and then there’s very little upkeep, and the companies keep that demand rolling in.
What security are these clowns even providing?
- After it was already public knowledge
Remember this when you cancel your useless ADT services
I’m so glad I don’t fuck around with ADT
