My cat passed away around 2 years ago now. I miss him a lot, but just haven’t been financially stable enough to adopt another.
Could you post nice stories and funny things about your cat(s) and talk about how much you love them? Thank you!
This is Rocky. I grew up my entire life having cats and had a total of 9 before my wife and I got Rocky. I say that because having known so many different cats over the years, Rocky is hands down the sweetest, snuggliest, and friendliest with strangers cat I’ve ever had.
If he’s not curled up on one of our laps, he at least has to always be in the same room as us. If we are in different rooms in the house, it’s as though he gets conflicted and will lay in the middle of the hallway to split the difference.
He loves to be carried around as he lays straddled across your shoulders.
He used to always meet us at the door when we came home, and we would have conversations with him where we would ask him things like how his day was and what he got up to, and he would loudly meow between each question. But now he’s mostly deaf, so he is usually asleep in one of his many cardboard boxes around the house when we get home.
He’s a terrible hunter, but he usually does a pretty good job of at least finding a bug on the floor. He’ll sit there and stare intently at it (until he loses interest and walks away), which is our cue that there’s something there.
He’s a special little dude, and we love him to pieces.
I love gray and white cats. Had one myself many years ago. And there was another one in our neighborhood for a long time. Both of them were super sweet.
Here’s my favorite picture of my old boy Kahn. I rescued him and his sister when they were itty bitty about 14 years ago. He is THE coolest cat. He has purred since the day he was born, it is nearly constant. You walk by and he flops to ask for belly rubs. He loves to have the space in between his toes massaged and will stretch his paws as wide as possible so you can really get in there.
When we got him we had three dogs. He loved them and they have since all passed. We had another dog who wasn’t with us long due to health but he loved him too. We have two new boys and it took him a second because he never had been around puppies but will curl up with them now on their bed or in front of the fireplace.
You can have conversations with him and he responds. Sometimes he is monosyllabic but will also meah back in short sentences.
He hangs out with the chickens and just chills. Such a cool cat and I will miss him when he’s gone.
I love his sister too, but she has chosen my spouse as her human and she doesn’t hang out if I’m home. She’s very stand offish and demanding. She has so many rules about who what and when she wants things and doesn’t want her time or space intruded on. as you can see on her face I am intruding on her human time.
What a handsome man!
Thanks! I say that to him all the time. He meows in agreement.
This is Brewster, who is so demanding about being loved, and yet so particular about it. He won’t come on my lap while on the couch, or in my office chair or in the reading chair, or anywhere else.
He’ll stomp around and yell, or roll around on the floor acting cute, or start clawing whatever furniture I’m on that’s not the bed until I get into bed, and I have to be under the covers, with this particular blanket, and then he’ll let me pet him. He’s such a doofus and I love him.
She stepped on an empty food bowl this morning and spooked herself so bad she didn’t eat breakfast for 20 minutes.
That’s a kind of special right?
My cat is the very definition of a cat, totally aloof, fiercely independent, kind of an asshole. She only acknowledges my presence when she wants to eat. She loved to bait the dogs and get them in trouble for chasing her. No guests in our house have ever seen her. The only times she even allows me to pet her is when she has a mat she wants me to get out.
The only exception is with my daughter. She absolutely loves her. As long as no one else is around she will love all over her. This picture was from about 2 years ago when my daughter got a nasty cold, and she watched over her the entire time. She even turned around and yelled at me shortly after taking this picture because my daughter started having a small coughing fit.
That’s super adorable!
He’s not even mine. He’s just a stray that hangs around and climbs up onto my shoulder whenever he sees me. I call him Cosmo.
He’s not even mine. I call him Cosmo.
You fail at not owning a cat!
When you sneeze Calcifer will sprint into the room and meow at you to bless you. If you ignore him he will keep meowing until thanks or pets are provided.
He also knows when my wife is in pain or having anxiety and will sit on her lap to keep her calm (maybe projecting this, but it’s very helpful and cute)
Your pic isn’t loading for me, which makes me sad. But Calcifer reminds me of our boy who we joked could smell his mommy’s tears. When my husband and I raised voices at each other, Sir Kitty ('03-'20) would come and yell at us, get on my lap, and get up in my face until we stopped to pet him, which seemed to be the only thing that would calm him.
Sir Kitty sounds like a noble and majestic creature, his memory shall live on in our hearts
I have three, but one is particularly “special.”
I found him kind of mangled in a parking garage. He screams when he gets excited, it’s hilarious. There’s always a new noise from him. He comes into a room then you can see that he forgot why he came in, but at the same time he can open complex handles on windows that have push buttons. We affectionately call him an idiot savant, but he’s so sweet.
Oh yes. He also loves belly rubs, he really demands them. He also likes feet massages. Bizarre little kitty.
Omg I love his photos so much!!
My cat’s name is Olive. My wife and I adopted her the Christmas after we moved In together and got married 9 years ago. I woke up a little early this morning with insomnia to her walking around our bodies and cuddling between us. Most nights she will sleep on my wife’s pillow nestled around her.head. Before bed she will sit beside my wife and wait for her to roll over a specific way and spoon with her.
Olive gets along great with our dog Ruby. We have a back yard and will let her roam for a bit while she uses the bathroom. Ruby then comes to the door and waits to be let in. Olive will meow at the door when Ruby is back. Even more, Olive has moved from the window and trotted to the door when she saw Ruby coming back to the porch.
Ruby needs to hype herself up to eat. She will play with Olive to, we assume, engage her prey drive. Olive has a lot of trust for Ruby and lets her nibble on her and slow blinks as she does. I think Olive is aware on some level that Ruby does this before she eats.
Sometimes in the morning when she is in our lap on the couch she’ll “talk” to us. If we make specific noises like clearing our throat or coughing or meowing she will make little noises back. This can go on for a bit until she’s done.

Here’s Alaric. He made me panic when I first adopted him because it seemed like he was refusing to eat for several days. I then discovered that he had found the bag of cheese treats, hidden it behind the sofa, torn it open, and eaten nothing but those the whole time. He also dislikes hearing voice calls for some reason, perfectly happy to sit on my lap while I watch a video but will get up and leave if I go on a discord chat or take a phone call. Those big ears of his can apparently tell the difference, even when I’m using headphones.
I love this little guy. He is a blessing.
Remember, kids, that pet’s names are often used for passwords. Don’t share sensitive information.
I don’t care, I just love my little top$ecret123!
Oh, that’s true!
It’d be fun to hear the names, but I understand if people don’t say or use a different name.
That’s on them then. Password managers are free and have been around for a while, no excuses using personal information in a password anymore.
It takes trust to give all your password to a piece of software. With all the leaks on the news can you blame them? For people with multiple devices an offline password manager is unwieldy. And self-hosting an online password manager is beyond the capabilities of most.
Oh for sure, I see your point. I would still trust managers over using (most likely) same insecure personal info passwords for every web account.
This is Alice. I got her at the same time as I got Milo, about 12 years ago now. Milo passed way in 2022 and I miss him all the time. He was my buddycat, Alice is my bunnycat. She’s soft, fluffy, sweet, and lazy. She loves a warm spot and a lap to cuddle on, though since she’s about 16 years old now, she can’t really jump up onto things anymore. We also adopted a little lunatic kitten named Chess, and she hates him passionately. We keep her sequestered away from the kitten and the new dog we also adopted, but the little bastard loves her so much and wants nothing more than to be her best friend. He sits on the other side of the door and sings to her all day. She just hisses back. She’s entitled to be crotchety though. Sometimes we take her out and bring her onto the couch and set her up with some lap time and she just curls up in a ball until Chess comes along, at which point she hisses ceaselessly until he goes away.
Unrequited love, what a sad story.
This is Chess:
This is Simón. He is my best cat. I got him ten years ago. He is the friendliest, snuggliest cat I’ve ever met. He is very vocal so we “talk” a lot every day.
Murphy is 20 years old and is deaf now, but still jumps up onto my lap and occasionally chases after strings. They told us he was found in a storm drain. He has been with us through 4 moves, the last time being just a week ago where he survived a 17-hour drive in a cramped car and pooping in a moving vehicle. He is a survivor and a sweetheart.
He loves rump smacks (cat bongos) and this rug. He especially loves rump smacks while on this rug.
May I introduce Cleo and Sebastion! Sebastion is very talkative and shows lots of love, but from a distance. Cleo is a sweetie and will come and lay on my chest at night, and also find anything to make noise with in the morning, so I’ll wake up and feed them. They generally love each other and never fight, but sebastion can go into what I call Crack head mode, and anything goes then.
