I lot of my friends growing up smoked. Like, my best friends. Most of my family, my mom and all of my older siblings, all smoked.
When I was something like fourteen or some shit, I took one drag and thought it was the most disgusting shit I had ever tasted on my life and an immensely unpleasant experience. Never touched them again, never even wanted to. It’s honestly one that baffles me.

The first Joker was amazing. It was such an oppressive, constantly dreadful atmosphere, and I genuinely mean this, in the best way. It was like a two hour long anxiety attack that just constantly built with tension. It filled me with feelings that not many other movies, if any, have made me feel. The ending felt so thoroughly foreshadowed and then somehow it still caught me off guard, a crescendo in the making for the whole runtime of the film.
Personally, I can’t wait to go see two. The trailers have a very similar tone to the first one, and I think it’s going to be wild. Got opening night tickets, which I really never do!
At least we can get health care without bankrupting us while we are saving for that home.

Personally I’ve loved how much they have fleshed everything out. Like, Johnny was such a completely missable, non consequential character in the original and now he’s a prominent side character. Just one example of many where they’ve taken a small part of the original and they have added a ton of context or fleshed out content around it.
A lot of the stuff is optional too, which I think strikes a solid balance. If you don’t like the content and find it busy work, you don’t have to do it. If you do like it, it’s there for you to enjoy.
I would call them anything but soulless. I think the love of the game shines in every corner of the titles.
I find it odd that you admit people can have different opinions (“to each their own”), then in the same breath imply anyone who doesn’t agree with you is blind/not looking (“obvious to any who look”).
Whether you want to believe it or not, I grew up on original 7 and my brothers and I probably have thousands of hours between us in the game. I replayed the original on PS4 leading up to Remake, and replayed the original again on Steamdeck leading up to Rebirth. I think it’s fair to say I’m a fan of the original, and the remakes both.
There are two 7 Remake games out, with one more on the way afaik.

I consider myself pretty progressive and am friends with nothing but progressives. And lots of people in the LGBTQ+ community. This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone want to have their second-person pronouns changed… It does not make communication easy.
Tbh, he’s been at that point in his career for a long, long time.
