It hugely depends on what post, and what community. Political, scientific one, i post plenty of them and often i don’t care. Video game, interesting topic, environmental, art design…i don’t care.

And the one about sign langage i just want to deactivate downvote on this community, Why ? So you just have to chose between ignore or upvote. Because 99,99% of you, in the fediverse aren’t deaf.

Masto, iceshrimp doesn’t have downvote system. I often post from them to lemmy and it works well.

Nope, we noticed that some of our post diseaspered on our timeline. It was part on a heated debate about desactiving downvote 4 month ago.

Maybe it has been patched since on Lemmy.

Too complex. You’ll have 2-3 votes on every hashtag at most. Implement subcommunity categories instead. It’d be more useful

I believe the opposite, it is way more informative compared to the voting system. I can upvote because of a cute cat, in the picture, it doesn’t tell you why i upvoted. Maybe people downvoted because the post wasn’t filtered with langage option ? Or maybe because it was boring ?

I believe collaborative hashtag would greatly help semantic research.

Nope, I’m just a moderator. Maybe i will setup my own instance : sublinks or piefed. Lemmy will soon allow moderators to check vote and it’s up to the admin to activate it. if i recall correctly.

So i will simply ban on my own community**, that mean only the smallish community on the fediverse about sign language. Why ? because it’s about deaf culture, deaf history…so i don’t see the point of downvoting.

Well, month ago,i wrote a post for rewanping the voting system. For example instead of dowvoting because the post is in german instead of english, we can have a tag/hashtag system with threesold.

As #spam and 10 people vote. Or good article, bad article, complex, sad, scary, not fun…and everyone add them and vote for the most revalent tag/hashtag.

And with this we can improve by leap and bound lemmy search.

The problem is that if they know smaller instance have a lower cooldown, they can

• create their own server
• subcribe in a small instance. An alt account dedicated to spamming.

So, the idea of lower cooldown should come with some security.

Great idea we can organize that between our instance instead of waiting for the next year. :D

I quickly drafted some rules :

• the competitive instance chose together a subject
• the pixel art must be original and not copy-pasted from web. we don’t use a template : hosted and template desactivated.each instance will have their private layer. Once the event is over, our draw will be revealed.
• 2-3 day to draw and send the result
• 1 week for voting

i didn’t miss your point and wanted to put another point of view on how usefull flag are on a collaborative and competitive space.

We got our 4 small flag erased because we were french.

I noticed people start drawing flag, then draw something. Why ? Because it is visual. You are simply telling them : “We are this community, and here is our drawing area.”

And yes there is conflit due to the lack of space and human ressource.

It doesn’t dimiss you point, that’s just another point of view. You are right too.

So from your stance we should erase the major flag : trans flag, germany and rainbow in the same way as Void that erased other people work ? What do you think it will happen ? What do you expect from attacking them ? A pixel war ?

Will they understand your point ?

That’s not fun. You can create a group, that’s a good idea. when the canva will start, go to their matrix room and suggest some drawing. But don’t attack them.

Because if you attack them :

• people won’t be creative and try to protect their flag. You won’t get any creativity except revenge : they stop drawing and fiqht you back. Unless you suggest them some drawing.
• you may get a ban once notified
• your fediverse id may be shared among other admins instance and get banned.

I loved this new feature, very cool and useful. It works well for small number of painters and collaboration. :)

I would like a shorter timer for small instance. So bigger communities have a longer timer and small a shorter one. But i affraid it wont help at all.

Protected area as in minetest. It would help against grief.

Also for new account with 0 coms, just created during this canva event : restriction, second layer for drawing before approval…something like that ?

The point of flag is, that they are (usually) easier coordinate, draw and restore.

I suppose they will alway start with the flag because it is our culture but also define a drawing zone.

I disagree with any form of vadalism, but you may invit them drawing their monument :)
