It’ll be interesting to see how he squares off against Poilievre. Carney is a capable speaker, but Poilievre has decades of experience.
Decades of experience doing dick squat. In 25 years in politics has not had his name on a single bill. He knows how to name call and sow discord. Decades of collecting a six figure salary paid by taxpayers and has absolutely NOTHING to show for it. Carney will wipe the floor with that pipsqueak PP. carney has decades of dealing with global economic crises. I’ll take the latter.

Doing what? I haven’t heard anything intelligent from him once. All he does is spew hatred for his opponents.
That can be enough. In the pre-Trump era, people were angry enough at the status quo/Trudeau that spewing would probably have gotten him a majority government.
I think we all knew he would win and it’s probably the best choice to go against Trump, but man I really like Karina Gould!
I think Gould was a little off base with her “let’s keep the carbon tax” thing. It’s a good policy, but it would be an uphill fight to convince the electorate of that.

She was great, all three should run as MPs and be ministers in Carney’s government.
Reminder of the Liberal’s record on proportional representation: “Liberals never wanted to “make every vote count.”… Electoral reform has become a bonbon offered at election. As far back as 1919, Liberals have campaigned on the promise of proportional representation”
Mark Carney’s position on electoral reform: “open”. However…
- He’s an economist, and the mathematics pairs quite nicely with the mathematics of electoral systems.
- His public persona is that he is intelligent. But when asked specifically about electoral reform and proportional representation, he says he’s uncertain and open to exploring options? Why would someone as smart as him be uncertain about ensuring every vote counts?
