“We have issued the last package that we had withdrawn and for which we had funding,” John Kirby said. White House National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said at a briefing Thursday that “the assistance we were providing has come to a halt.”

The White House official also said it is very important that Congress continues to approve the allocation of money to Ukraine. He stressed that Kiev needs help more urgently during the winter period.

Existential war for who? Its not for me or my neighbors. I feel for the people of Ukraine, but I don’t understand why suddenly the left is so hawkish to remain the world police. Where is your energy for every other conflict that happens?

Yes, other aid we give has logistics tracking munitions like javelins… That’s why we requested it from Ukraine.

If their situation is so dire, why are they in a position to reject basic record keeping requests?

Existential for Ukranians, so much is obvious.

You invoke “The left” but GOP republicans (The not maga loons) also all agree this is a national security issue for the US that requires aid and support.

The suspension of aid has nothing to do with tracking issues of Aid given.

In addition, and this is an important one: From the link you provided: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/01/11/politics/pentagon-tracking-weapons-ukraine-report/index.html

Since December 2022, revisions to the inventory process for the Defense Department and Ukrainian Armed Forces resulted in an improvement to the Pentagon’s ability to track the weapons, the report says. But “significant personnel limitations and accountability challenges remain.”

“Until the DoD resolves these challenges, it will be unable to fully comply with the EEUM program requirements to account for all of the more than $1.699 billion in EEUM‑designated defense articles provided to Ukraine,” the inspector general said in its report.

Indeed, the US’ Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC)-Kyiv said there is “no evidence of unauthorized or illicit transfer of EEUM defense articles provided to Ukraine,” and emphasized personnel limitations as a primary challenge to providing a full inventory of equipment.

*“Standard EEUM inventory procedures are not practical in a dynamic and hostile wartime environment,” a letter from ODC-Kyiv said, adding that the “unprecedented volume” of equipment being sent to Ukraine “is beyond the capacity of the limited DoD personnel in country to physically inventory even if access were unrestricted.” *

This seems to say that the issue is with capacity on US DOD side (ODC-Kiyv is part of the US Department of defense). They are unable to go though all information they have, so your statement that Kiyv is not providing the information cannot be taken from the article.

Finally, the fact that your stance “If it does not impact me, it’s not important” is a very shortsighted one, that also completely ignores that this aid does so much more than just help Ukraine, both Domestically in the US and especially in the Geopolitical and trade theatre.
