Then-President Donald Trump personally pressured two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers not to sign the certification of the 2020 presidential election, according to recordings reviewed by The Detroit News and revealed publicly for the first time.

On a Nov. 17, 2020, phone call, which also involved Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Trump told Monica Palmer and William Hartmann, the two GOP Wayne County canvassers, they’d look “terrible” if they signed the documents after they first voted in opposition and then later in the same meeting voted to approve certification of the county’s election results, according to the recordings.

“We’ve got to fight for our country,” said Trump on the recordings, made by a person who was present for the call with Palmer and Hartmann. “We can’t let these people take our country away from us.”

McDaniel, a Michigan native and the leader of the Republican Party nationally, said at another point in the call, “If you can go home tonight, do not sign it. … We will get you attorneys.”

It was apparent when that Georgia recording came out that he must have been calling all over the place making these unsubtle “suggestions” to various state officials. It was just a matter of who decided to grab a recording and hold onto it to cover their own asses. I think everyone involved knew full well that even having the conversation was crossing all kinds of lines, and impossible to defend.

You say scary, I say utterly predictable that she would be involved and nice to have proof so that they can flip her or indict her too.

“I move to dismiss this evidence your honor.”

    “why?”

    “it’s devastating to my case!”

At one point, there was a QAnon conspiracy theory that said that Trump really didn’t leave the White House. He got quick plastic surgery to look like Joe Biden and was sworn in again so he was still President. This was between when he “appeared to leave” and before anyone saw him post-inauguration. And, yes, people believed it even though it’s completely idiotic. (I’m not going to get into debunking it because there’s just SO MUCH wrong with it )

How long until the Q/MAGA folks start insisting that Biden is secretly a master vocal impersonator and that it was actually Biden doing a Trump impression to get Trump in trouble?

I block assholes immediately on deciding they aren’t someone I will ever benefit from interacting with. Their politics doesn’t matter as much to me as their assholery, but there is a strong correlation.

And probably enough evidence to flip Ronna Romney or indict her as an accessory if not an actual conspirator.
