Of course they are. They saw what happened when all the kids who grew up watching sesame street and Mr Rogers learned how to think of other people as people and not things. They started supporting their right to exist! As valid individuals! With RIGHTS!?!

Conservatives can only prosper if empathy is suppressed, or at least heavily restricted. You see it every time yet another conservative changes their position on some social issue as soon as they experience whatever it is firsthand.

If they had empathy, they would’ve already supported the progressive position.

Nothing that dude just said is dehumanizing, even if it hurts your feelings.

The commenter you responded to never once dehumanized anyone. If you want to grumble and moan at someone who dehumanizes conservatives, direct that weak shit at me instead. Most progressives will never dehumanize a conservative. I will, though.

When a conservative is capable of humanity, I will treat that conservative like a human. If history is our guide, though, I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.

Pathological deception and manipulation are fundamental conservative traits, which explains your whiny, feeble attempt to gaslight someone with a fake “gotcha” comment.

The Venn diagram of “conservatives” and “profoundly unintelligent sociopaths” is almost a single circle. Because conservatives are not able to communicate in good faith, every “opinion” expressed by a conservative can be immediately dismissed without consideration. Please feel free to respond so that I may demonstrate.

Empathy is not a conservative trait. Pretending to have empathy when it benefits them is common conservative behavior, though.

Use great caution when dealing with conservatives. They simply do not value the lives of others the way normal people do.

      i.e., transactional

      (O.P.'s reply)

      Yes, exactly!

For a conservative, every interaction is a transaction. When a conservative shows kindness, they feel they have done the recipient a favor. They feel the recipient now owes them in some way.

Kindness for the sake of kindness is derided as “some weak liberal shit”.

    TL;DR?

Banning SEL makes as much sense as banning the alphabet because the letters can be used to say bad or hurtful things.

Also, banning stuff has such a history of positive outcomes.

…at least 25 states saw bills introduced into their legislatures to remove social and emotional learning (SEL) from public school curricula. While most failed, the bills rely on talking points developed by right-wing SEL opponents who liken lessons meant to increase students’ emotional intelligence — teaching them skills like empathy, collaborative problem-solving and emotional self-regulation — to a Trojan Horse for left-wing ideologies of race, gender and sexuality.

Oh its not bullshit. They just redefined “empathy” and “care”, and since it hasnt updated, theyre no longer teaching empathy and care. Because empathy and care mean something else.

English evolves, never complain or be out of date, no matter how forced and unnatural it is.
