Maybe I’m mistaken but I’m sure if you pass the persuasion checks telling him “not right now” you can persuade him to stay and he just goes “I’ll figure something else out” and that’s where the story ends in that regard
Either way you get so many magical items in the first act alone (if you 100% it) that sacrificing the 3 that don’t fit your builds is not such a heavy sacrifice
And you can also not give him shit and he eventually just makes a deal with Raphael behind your back
He will leave if you don’t give him anything.
