Roughly 20 years ago that was the case for me as well. Late night D&D sessions every day for months straight was the cause.
Wake up. Prepare spells(+1hour). Go out and get into a fight encounter(+20 minutes). Time for a long rest…
Can’t long rest more than once per 24 hours.
I’ve been running on an average of 2 hrs of sleep a night for almost 3 months now and I feel like I’m going to die. I broke my ankle/leg real bad in October and had to have surgery to fix it. I’ve been staying with my parents the whole time and I just cannot sleep because of the pain, and the fact I want to be at my home in my own bed
I’ve been experimenting with short rests. A 1-2 hour nap when I get home gives me the energy for activities, rather than droning through activities like a zombie for the sake of another couple hours.
Sometimes even setting a timer for 10-15 minutes and letting yourself doze can be helpful if you have the self control to pop back up when it goes off.
Took me a bit of practice to stop overdoing my micronaps
That’s because you have more agency in D&D than you do in real life.
